In 1996 Pat was an invited guest in Elko, Nevada's Cowboy Poetry Gathering, and 2005
marks the seventh time he has been an invited guest there. In 1999 Pat won
the Cedar City, Utah Cowboy Poetry Contest against 78 other poets from Canada,
Australia, and the United States. The following year Pat was the invited poet at the National Finals Rodeo Old Timers Reunion in Las Vegas, Nevada. That same year he was invited to Lincoln Center, New York to perform. In 2003 Pat was voted "Academy of Western Artists" Cowboy Poet of the year and in 2004 his new book "Unhobbled" won the prestigious Academy of Western Artists Will Rogers Medallion Award, and was runner up for Book of the Year. Pat has two award winning CDs "Pull my Finger" and "B.Y.O.S." (Bring Your Own Sheep) In 2004 Pat won a first place buckle in the "Team Roping" song lyrics, and also the first place buckle in the poetry contest he entered with Yvonne Hollenbeck, who also won a buckle. |
